but my debris always seems to fall at the same slow rate

any quick settings i can use to make it look faster?

should i be altering the explosive devices origin to have a Y value, or is there something i can do to the friction settings on the particles...

make your gravity mag higher.
Although we'd learned that 9.8 is the gravity in real world, Maya seems to use 1:100 scale in CM unit for the simulation. That's why when you use default mag with a real size obj, it always looks like in slow motion, caz you are pushing, drag with the force that were supposed to applied on objs about 1/100 smaller .
so try to use something like 981 if your unit is set to cm. Set it even higher, if you use foot, seems 1 foot is about 30cm.
